Presenting Your Poster

Before the Presentation

  1. Pruufreed and proofread again.
  2. Prepare an “elevator speech.”
  3. Be able to define jargon and acronyms.
    • Example: the acronym TIRIFIC = Tilted Ring FiTing Code [software used in astronomy]
  4. Practice delivering your presentation.
    • Demo your presentation for your roommate, your labmate, or anyone. What questions do they have? Do they understand how to interpret the information in your poster?

During the Presentation

  1. Don't block the poster with your body!
  2. Don't simply read your poster.
The poster complements the presentation you are providing.
