Monitoring the FutureMTF can be used to investigate trends in the behaviors, attitudes, and values of American secondary and college students, and young adults. Beginning in 1975, with 12th graders, and later adding 8th and 10th graders, students are surveyed about demographics and attitudes regarding drugs. Other topics include: religion, roles of women, parents, etc. Follow up studies
Publicly available Monitoring the Future microdata from the cross-sectional in-school surveys may be obtained through the National Addiction & HIV Data Archive Program (NAHDAP), a part of the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR).
